Glenn Thrush Joins The New York Times

The New York Times is adding veteran political writer Glenn Thrush to its White House team covering the incoming presidential administration. Thrush, formerly POLITICO’s chief political correspondent and senior staff writer for POLITICO Magazine, wrote a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday confirming the move. He wrote, “I needed a new challenge — and I can’t think of a challenge-ier one that [sic] covering this new president for the Times.” At the Times, he’ll be reunited with former POLITICO reporters Jonathan Martin, Alexander Burns and Maggie Haberman.

Prior to joining POLITICO eight years ago, Thrush covered Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign at New York’s Newsday. He brings a wealth of experience to the Times, having covered President Obama, Congress and three presidential elections, including the recently-concluded 2016 campaign. Additionally, he’s written for The New York Observer, Bloomberg News, the Daily News, City Limits and the Birmingham (Ala.) Post-Herald. Thrush starts at the Times on January 3rd.
