Ahead of a new presidential administration, The Weekly Standard is shuffling its masthead, issuing promotions to some of its long-time writers. With more than a decade of experience as a political writer and commentator, Stephen Hayes will become The Weekly Standard’s new editor-in-chief.
Hayes is currently a senior writer for The Weekly Standard and a contributor for Fox News. Previously, he served as a senior writer for National Journal’s Hotline and has written for or appeared on the New York Post, Washington Times, and CNN, among others.
About his new position, Hayes said, “I’m inheriting an incredible staff and stable of contributors and I’m confident that The Weekly Standard will continue to provide the best coverage of these fascinating times.”
Co-founder and current editor-in-chief of The Weekly Standard Bill Kristol will become editor at large and will continue to work closely with Hayes and deputy editor Richard Starr will be promoted to the editor position.
