Jessica Borchert comes to Blue Engine Message & Media from the office of U.S. Senator Tom Udall (NM) where she developed and implemented communications plans on issues ranging from transportation and clean energy to border security and small business. As a communications staffer in the Senate and as press secretary to former Representative Harry Teague (NM-2), Jessica drove long-term communications strategy by spearheading radio outreach, creating district events, building relationships with the media, and mastering cutting-edge social media advocacy on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and Google +.
A New Mexico native, Jessica moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from New Mexico State University where she received a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications. Her senior year, PR News named Jessica one of their national P.R. Students of the Year for her extensive media internship experience. Jessica's media experience included a local publishing company, KRWG Radio, KTSM Channel 9, U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, then Representative Tom Udall’s 2008 Senate campaign, and the local Convention and Visitors Bureau.
As the daughter of educators, Jessica believes that education is the foundation for the future. In her spare time she volunteers as a reading mentor with Everybody Wins DC! and teaches a class on fables to pre-kindergarten students for Saturday School at KIPP DC.
