TIME Adds Phil Elliott to 2016 Election Coverage Team

TIME Magazine is adding Associated Press veteran, Philip Elliott, who has been with the wire service for nearly a decade and most recently has covered “politics and trends,” to its storied newsroom. Elliott will join TIME as part of their 2016 presidential campaign coverage team and will be a Washington correspondent beginning in early May. TIME editor Nancy Gibbs announced the move to staff saying: “As a National Politics Reporter at The Associated Press, Phil earned a reputation as a deeply sourced reporter with a record of breaking news. In the last month alone, he broke the news of Marco Rubio’s entrance into the presidential race, questioned Rand Paul about his position on abortion and interviewed Mike Huckabee about how he would fund his likely campaign.” At AP, Elliot’s tenure included stints covering the White House, the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, and the 2006 and 2010 midterm elections.
